Wilderness Therapy Programs (sometimes referred to as Outdoor Education) have proven themselves to be exceptional catalysts for change in troubled teenagers. Rites of Passage NW wilderness therapy is a unique transformational process. We treat troubled teens struggling with a variety of situations including family conflict, negative peer group involvement, isolation, or spending excessive time on computers. Some teens have been struggling academically, have low self-esteem, may be abusive toward their parents and siblings, or may be experimenting with drugs and alcohol. Wilderness therapy is a concentrated wilderness therapy program set in the outdoors that offers dramatic results in a relatively short period of time.
Our wilderness therapy program encourages self-reliance and self-respect in each troubled teen. Our goal is to develop, direct and re-focus behavior patterns in a positive way. Wilderness therapy removes urban distractions and simplifies options to help students gain insight into their core values and accept responsibility for their choices. As a result, students begin to accept responsibility for personal decisions, address individual and family issues, and become invested in their own personal growth. We have come to believe that with wilderness therapy great changes are possible, and our wilderness therapy program encourages exceptional changes in your struggling teen towards healthier behaviors and decision making.
